This song is inspired by "The Rumble in the Jungle," the immortal Muhammad Ali-George Forman boxing match, and what the De La Vegaz saw and heard at ringside as the crowd chanted "ALI BOOMBAYE, ALI BOOMBAYE!"

The De La Vegaz were in the South of France in October of 1974, visiting their uncle Diego. On the spur of the moment, the three flew to Zaire, as a good friend was playing with James Brown and another was playing with B.B. King before the fight and had extra tickets. ALI BOOMBAYE, ALI BOOMBAYE!
